FAQs
Who is eligible to join the program?

Families with children who are without a home are eligible to join the program. Interviews will be conducted to see if there is a match between the program and the family's needs. Adults must be disciplined and motivated to make healthy changes in their lives: including establishing and continuously working on individual goals to move on from the program. Adult guests commit to following MIHN rules.

Are there other requirements to join the program?

At least one of the adult guests in the family must be employable. This is a sober program. MIHN will take people with addictions, however, they must show that they have been sober for 6 months and show that they have successfully completed a recovery program. A criminal background check is completed on each adult guest. MIHN will not accept anyone with violent felonies.

The program may be right for my family. How do I proceed?

Give us a call at 508-318-4820. Ask for the Director Beth or the Assistant Director Marcia. Voice Mail is regularly checked. You, an advocate, or a referral agency can make that initial call.

Is MIHN a religious organization?

No. There are no religious questions asked of our guests. MIHN is an affiliate of Family Promise. Karen Olson, the founder of Family Promise, reached out to local congregations for support and resources. The synergy between MIHN and religious congregations is a huge strength of the program.

How did the Metrowest Interfaith Hospitality Network originate?

Members of Christ Lutheran Church in Natick and members of Wellesley Congregational (Village) Church independently contacted Family Promise: both were very interested in the IHN program. In 2003, Christ Lutheran members and Wellesley Congregational members voted to join the fledgling Metrowest Interfaith Hospitality Network. From that time on, a growing Core Group of members, with the support of Family Promise, worked to recruit additional congregations and increase the support for the program: building the foundations of the present program. The Metrowest Interfaith Hospitality Network accepted it's first Guest Family into the Network in November of 2008.

Can I or my congregation still get involved?

Yes! You can get involved individually. Also, your congregation can vote to join the Network. We'd love to hear from you! Please contact us. There are many ways to get involved and help.
